Why SDU?
1. Long history
Shandong University (SDU) is one of the initiative universities
of modern Chinese higher education. Its main body,
Shandong Imperial College (Shandong Da Xue Tang),
established in 1901, was the second national university in
China.
3. Multicultural campus and beautiful scenery
Shandong University endeavors to foster a vibrant community
with a breadth of experience across national boundaries,
cultural backgrounds, academic interests, and more. By
travelling to different campuses, students can enjoy different
landscapes, such as natural springs in Jinan, beautiful
coastlines in Qingdao and Weihai, and Mount Lao in Qingdao,
where you can find the co-existence of Taoism and Buddhism.
Shandong Province, the very home of Shandong University, is
the birthplace of Confucius, where China’s traditional culture

2. Academic excellence
Shandong University is one of the top-ranked universities in China. According to the latest Essential
Science Indicators (ESI) data, Shandong University has 5 disciplines among the top 1‰ in the
world, namely chemistry, engineering, clinical medicine, materials science, and pharmacology and
toxicology, and 19 disciplines among the top 1%. At present, Shandong University has 12 state
scientific research platforms, 4 key social science research bases approved by the Ministry of
Education and a large number of provincial scientific research centers.
